Biography[]

MATT ROSS spent the past five seasons playing the kind-hearted and deeply misunderstood polygamous Prophet of Juniper Creek, Albert Alby Grant on HBO‘s Big Love. In film, he has worked with such directors as Martin Scorsese on The Aviator, George Clooney on Good Night, and Good Luck, Mike Newell on Pushing Tin, Terry Gilliam on Twelve Monkeys, and John Woo on Face/Off. Other film credits include Mary Harron‘s American Psycho, Whit Stillman‘s The Last Days of Disco, and he starred as Ed in John Walsh‘s Ed‘s Next Move. On television, Ross appeared in TNT‘s Buffalo Soldiers, and the Stephen King mini-series, Rose Red, for which he intentionally gained 45 pounds, and still, to this day, thinks perhaps that wasn‘t the best idea he has ever had. Ross also guest-starred on Six Feet Under, Oz, and many other series. Currently, he can also be seen as Dr. Charles Montgomery on American Horror Story for FX. Theatre work includes Jez Butterworth‘s Mojo at the Atlantic Theatre Company, probably the single greatest joy he has had ever had acting, and James Lapine‘s Twelve Dreams at Lincoln Center. Ross wrote and directed the award-winning short film, The Language of Love, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and played worldwide. He recently finished Twenty-Eight Hotel Rooms, his first feature film as a writer/director. He speaks fluent Italian, French, and Danish and greatly admires Noam Chomsky. Ross graduated from the Juilliard School.[1]
